The Gambia extends inwards from the Atlantic coast along the banks of the River Gambia, home to a wide variety of wildlife and over 540 different species of birds.

The geography of this small country is extremely varied, and in addition to the unspoilt beaches, it includes savannah, dense forest, lagoons and areas of mangrove. There are several national parks where the local eco-systems have been sensitively preserved and the wildlife can be observed in its natural habitat.

The Gambia has an abundance of sites with deep historical significance, including famed West African stone circles, identified as 1200 year old burial grounds and the sacred Katchikali Crocodile Pool, where visitors can experience what it feels like to mingle with the pool's over one hundred inhabitants.
